Work Experience Diary

Here is the diary of my work experience I have done so far. I've linked any posts I have written on them.
  • Marshfield Organic Farm- Helping out with all the animals (that's cows, sheep, pigs, ducks, chickens and geese) since about 2010. This tends to be a few times a month whenever they need me.
  • Bath Farmers Market- As well as helping on the actual farm I work once a week on their stall at the market.
  • Georges Veterinary Practice- I went out on calls with the large animal vets for a week in summer 2011 and a week in summer 2013.
  • ByBrook Agriculture- Since autumn 2012 I've worked every other Sunday at one of their laying chicken sheds.
  • Lambing- In April 2013 I did three days lambing on a big sheep farm near where I live.
  • West Kington Stud Farm- For one day I visited the stud farm for an introduction day to meet the people and have a look at what their work involves. I went back in the summer for a week and it was brilliant. Not only did I spend the week working on and learning about the Stud and Competition yards, but I also got to visit the Bushy Equine Hospital and Beaufort embryo transfer centre.
  • Dairy Farm- In the May Half term 2013 I worked on a dairy farm for a week. The experience was fantastic and I learnt so much more about dairy farming. My confidence with cows also benefitted hugely from this.
  • Victoria Small Animal Vets- A week and a few days over summer 2013 assisting in consults and surgery with the vet and vet nurses. I went back over October half term 2013 for two days and learnt and observed much more.
  • Vets Klinic- One day in September 2013 observing the vets consults and surgery in a large commercial vets practice.
  • Hale Small Animal Hospital- Every Friday morning in my free lessons I do work experience at the Hale Veterinary Hospital in Chippenham. It's really useful as they have a large varied team including nurses, nurse students, vets and new graduate vets. I even get to wear scrubs!
